Criteria for diagnosing PID

  • Uterine / adnexal or cervical motion tenderness
    (must)
  • Temp > 38
  • Abnormal cervical or vaginal mucopurulent
    discharge.
  • Elevated ESR and CRP
  • Previous GC or Chlamydia
  • US showing tubo-ovarian abscess or free fluid.
In Patient treatment for PID

Clindamycin 900 mg IV plus
Gentamycin 2 mg/kg IV

                      or
Cefoxitin 2 gm IV
Doxycycline 100 mg PO BID
Add flagyl if TOA present
Outpatient treatment for PID

Ceftrioxone 250 mg IM/IV
Doxycycline 100 mg po BID x 14 days
